Introducing Our Deaconal Team
At Crossroads we are committed to living out the words of Jesus that
'you should love your neighbour as yourself.' We want to build a
community in which we don't just talk about loving each other but in
which we show that love and concern for each other and for our broader
community in tangible ways. Our deaconal team's goal it is to offer
assistance, encouragement, and training to our congregation members and
to our broader community. They also raise money to support those
agencies and causes that help share the love of Jesus both locally and
around the world.
What Kind of Support is Available within our Church
Our small groups meet on a weekly basis
not just to learn, pray, and encourage each other, but also to allow
members of our community to share our lives with each other. We strive
to be able to do this for each other both in good times and in tough
ones. Each small group is led by a trained leader who guides the group,
helps organize activities, and helps mobilize the group to respond to
needs in each other's lives. When small group leaders encounter needs
that are too large for the group to handle, our deaconal team is
available to provide ongoing help and support. Some of the kinds of
support they offer:
- Visitation for those sick or in need,
- Financial assistance when possible,
- Organizing work crews or help around the home
- Encouragement and prayer
- Sharing the love of Jesus in a variety of other creative ways!
What Kinds of Community Support Do We Offer
Our Deaconal team also offers various seminars and programs that target some of the concerns and
needs of those living in the Ajax/Pickering community. Some examples of
seminar topics have included:
- Parenting Courses (Young Kids and Teens)
- Relationship Seminars
- Financial/Stewardship Planning
